The Public Gallery is Here!
Exciting news for all artists wanting to show their work. With the launch of the new public gallery all your public models will automatically be visible to the world. Of course your unlisted models will remain "for your eyes only". Check your personal gallery and see if there's something you might want everyone to discover!
Detail Maps PLUS
Detail maps are basically a secondary texture layer specially made to be tilled or repeated seamlessly over the object. Our implementation of detail maps is available for the diffuse, bump and normal channels and allows us to maintain beautiful patterns even when viewing a model up close. Since detail maps are so much fun we have added a few presets courtesy of the p3d.in team so you can start playing right away!

Shadeless Material
The shadeless material is useful when you need your color texture to show pure color, regardless of the lighting of the model. Think of a self lit screen monitor that should always look full bright or maybe a game model with shadows baked into the color texture. This type of shading was available as a viewport option but now you can select it for each material!

Safari is now a first class citizen!
Modern versions of the Safari web browser finally gave us the features we needed to make p3d.in work flawlessly! Granted, users of Safari still need to enable WebGL support in order to use p3d.in but after this round of fixes we finally managed to get Safari to work in par with Chrome or Firefox.
Embed option to disable rotation PLUS
When we added the functionality to disable zooming and panning for our advanced embeds we thought that disabling rotation made no sense. After all what good is 3D without rotation? However we where proven wrong after some users pointed that disabling user rotation is a nice feature alongside auto-spin, effectively creating a non interactive turntable display!

Other fixes and usability improvements
Thanks to everyone who send us error reports! We take them very seriously and do our best to fix them as soon as possible, benefiting the entire p3d.in community!
Our .obj loader is now more robust and loads certain kind of objects that previously failed.
The .mtl automatic material parser that we introduced in our previous release is now stronger. Found more problematic .mtl files? Send them over!
For people with galleries using over 2GB of storage there was a problem preventing more files to be uploaded. This is now fixed.
A site like p3d.in pushes the limits of what a browser can do in many aspects, one of them is the use of memory. We have taken an in depth look into this aspect resulting in large improvements. This will make p3d.in faster, snappier and more reliable!
It is now possible to login with your email address as well as your user name. We have gotten reports of people getting confused by trying to login with their email address and since this wasn't supported it caused a great deal of stress. We're happy to receive your feedback and make this improvements in usability.
Thanks to all the people that have enrolled into the p3d.in Plus account, you are making all of this possible!
